Area: Lydd and Ramla villages
Made of cotton and silky velvet, this thobe was named after the kermezot fabric which is a mix of silk and cotton, and was used in the making of this thobe up until the beginning of the 20th century. It is distinguished for the overlapping of colors on both its sides, and is embroidered on the chest, sides and sleeves using the cross stitch and Al-Tehshaya or Ak-Rasheq stitches. The shoulders and chest areas are bordered with pieces of triangular-shaped fabric called ‘Tashareef’, that extend to the upper back area with some embroidery as well.
The belt is made of embroidered fabric in the same patterns of the dress
The shawl is off-white adorned with a piece of fabric embroidered in the same patterns of the dress
