Area: Al-Masmiyya East of Al-Majdal
Made of black polyester and cotton fabric with purple and green stripes on the sides, this kind of fabric is called “Al-Majdalawi”, and is also adorned using colorful cotton fabric. This thobe is void of embroidery with the exception of the chest panel and some slight embroidery on the sleeves using silk threads in light colors and simple motifs.
The beauty of this thobe lies in the artistic use of colorful cotton fabric in its design, which are visible on the sleeves in the form of straight lines, as well as the front area, the sides and the lower hem in triangular shapes called “Al-Hijabat”.
The triangles “Hijabat” are bordered with smaller triangles called “Tashareef” using a different color of fabric that is stitched to the garment with red silk threads. The outline of the chest panel is also stitched using red silk threads.
